He's not THAT tall. Ryan and Kirin are just super short.

Okay, so I know my assessments of the Olympian Roasts are late, but I still wanted to share my views on them. Chris vs MikeI know Mike was away and had very little time to devote to the challenge, but in all honesty that is no excuse for a lack of effort and creativity. He opted to go for creating a series of photo memes of Chris and this could have worked well if he put more thought into them. In one of these memes, he even shoots himself in the foot with his wording and even declared Chris the winner of iS Macedonia. How is this a bad thing? Chris did not have to do much to win... and he didn't really. His roast was not that good and felt very flat and forced than most, but you can see he was trying and I am glad he won the battle against Mike. Result Satisfaction: I am happy with the judges' verdicts.Debbie vs CraigThis was pretty funny in the sense that both roasters seemed uncomfortable going after each other. This was probably the most polite roast battle out of all of them. I think Debbie had a tougher task ahead of her, because Craig is always just barely noticeable above the radar, and when he is, he is just nice and likable. It also doesn't help that he outlasted her in Japan - thus taking any sting out of her jabs at him for being an unknown, as the finger could also then get pointed right back at her in that regard. In the end, Craig was too nice to capitalise on an easier target and I think Debbie deserved bonus points for lampooning herself better than Craig did. Result Satisfaction: I am happy with the judges' verdicts.Joey vs JaredGoing into this, I thought Jared was a shoe-in to win it. His earlier confessionals were basically a roast of Joey (among others) from time to time as it is, but he dropped the ball in this challenge. Jared is one of my favorites because he is able to just switch on the camera and be hilarious on cue - yet now when told to be funny, it is almost like he got performance anxiety. Joey, on the other hand, did a great job. It is clear that he did a bit of research. His roast had the flowing momentum of a solid, professional roast and what he lacked in joke excellence, he made up for in the execution of his roast as a whole. It think Joey would make a great future toast/roast master with some practice if he wanted to. Result Satisfaction: Sad Jared tanked, but happy Joey got a win for his efforts. Joanne vs TaylorWhen I started Joanne's video, she had me laughing at the fact that she styled her hair ridiculously to match Taylor's "Link Gone Wrong" hairstyle. I really enjoy Joanne, but sadly, it all fizzled out from there. I appreciate that Joanne opted not to go the overly mean girl route with Taylors little crush on her, but I am of the impression that Joanne is just too sweet a person for a roast challenge. I am also really underwhelmed by Taylor Street as a character. As much as I always look to his confessionals to get a feel for what sinister plans he may have for this game, he just seems to come off better in writing than he does on camera and I think that ruins him a little for me. This duel was a bit of a sleeper, in my opinion. Result Satisfaction: Meh. Allan vs RyanSay what you will about Allan Fogg and his constantly precarious position in this game, but this roast served as yet another reminder of why I still find him so much fun to watch. His off-beat humour really kicks me in the funny bone every time. Allan even had Laurian in stitches as I watched some roasts - especially when he was starts lowering his towel and moaning, "My bum, guys! Oh my God, I am so embarrassed. Look away!" There was not much about this roast that I did not find amusing. Ryan's effort was a stark contrast. For a guy who usually has no problems with saying mean and offensive things just because he can and enjoys trolling comments threads, he really seemed awkward and forced in his roast video... and that is why he came up short. Result Satisfaction: Super happy that Allan won his duel, because he was just head and shoulders above his opposition.Dave vs FeiI dont know why, but terrible rap music seemed to be a common theme in this duel. Fei did a pretty decent job of trying a different approach. I also learned something from her video: Dave is definitely a whole lot more flamboyant these days than he was back in iS Congo. Dave could have destroyed this challenge in a matter of seconds, because all he really had to say was, "This roast video is going to be as long and as relevant as Fei's first stint on iSurv1vor. The end." Comical, anti-comedy that works. Really, that is pretty much all one needs for ammo against Fei in this case, yet he went straight into the awful stereotype of white boy suburbanites trying to rap in order to be cool/funny. As hard as it is for me to admit it, Fei mopped the floor with a Dave a little, there. Result Satisfaction: Cannot complain. Fei was better. Why Dave, why?Alyx Rice vs Alex RicoWith a big personality like Alyx Rice, I was eager to see what she had in store for us. I was surprised to see that she seemed rather tame and I feel like she missed a huge opportunity. Alyx in no way performed badly at all, but I thought she was going to be one of the big hitters in this challenge. Alex Rico tried something different and I liked it a lot. The storytime format, along with his little passive-aggressive stabs and jabs at his opponent are just typical of Alex Rico and thus, felt more natural to me in his execution. Result Satisfaction: I am happy with the judges' verdicts.Dru vs NicoleThis was the best battle in this challenge by far. Nicole was original and she was adorably funny, as always. She threw in some genuine zingers along the way and I wondered how Dru would top this roast. Dru was on fire. He went in guns blazing and he pulled no punches. What was more impressive is that Nicole is so likable that Dru really should not have had so much material to work with - yet he managed to find the tiniest details and turn them into some megaton bombs with witch to destroy the opposition. Everything from his style, tone, pitch and delivery to the quality of the jokes he delivered was nearly flawless. Result Satisfaction: I am extremely happy with the judges' verdicts, despite being a little sad that Nicole got nothing for her efforts.
My Top 5 Roasts:
- Dru
- Allan
- Nicole
- Joey
- Alex Rico
