It is about time we started off a new thread to discuss the game. While I have been super busy visiting friends and family one last time, I have been checking out the board from time to time and I just wanted to say something about the last few boots...
Ryan: To me, Ryan was the biggest alpha competitor this season. I always admire someone with the balls to play a strong game out in the open the way he did and while it doesn't always work out for the player who employs this strategy, it makes the game more exciting and entertaining. I am sad that Ryan is no longer in the game, but anything short of a spot on the jury would have been a grave injustice to this game, so at least their is some solace to be found in his elimination from the game.
Alex Rico: Alex started this game on a strong footing and came right out of the gates playing a solid game. He lost it along the way, succumbing to his emotions and letting them cloud his better judgement. His emotions ultimately lead him to some sloppy game-play and I would never align myself with anyone who refuses to vote with their alliance, much to the detriment of everyone else's game - but I really enjoyed watching Alex this season as a character. There is just something really likable about Alex Rico that still makes me want to hear what he has to say about everything, even if his game-play is driving me up the wall.
Allan: I don't care what anyone says, Allan was a star this season in my eyes. Allan Fogg clawed his way to his spot on the jury, as well as hung around seeming unthreatening when he needed to. His quirky sense of humour and perpetual underdog story were two traits that I really enjoyed. I am so glad that he got to finish in the final leg of the game and am also really excited to hear what he has in store for the final tribal council. Baie wel gedoen, Allan. Ek is trots op jou!
As it stands, I am really hoping for the Chris/Feil duo to be broken up soon. To me, Fei has done nothing entertaining since she helped switch things up and send Kurtis packing earlier in the game. Like Tucker, I am also confounded by her refusal to vote with the majority. If anyone presented me with the argument that they never voted anyone on the jury out of the game at the final tribal council, I would immediately discard them as someone who deserves my vote. That is the epitome of playing Survivor and iSurv1vor incorrectly. To me the, "Well, I knew you were going, but decided to not vote for you so that you would not be angry with me and therefore owe me your vote" argument is condescending and a slap in the face. All it tells me is that you are too much of a pansy to pull the trigger on any kind of target, while your alliance stuck their necks out to ensure that things went according to plan and that you really outplayed nobody. Dave is at least playing that tactic trying to seem like an outsider, ready to be scooped up by counter alliances - where he will then start to vote to keep a newly formed majority intact.
Looking forward to see how this round plays out and hoping for a shake-up!
